Outro is the first off-ramp for the 50M+ Americans on antidepressants. We’ve launched with a virtual tapering service based on hyperbolic tapering, a neurobiology-based method for stopping psychiatric medications that was developed by our co-founder, Dr. Mark Horowitz.

Our tapering program supports patients via ongoing clinical support, a purpose-build digital platform, withdrawal symptom monitoring, and lifestyle medicine education. We started onboarding waitlist members in June, and we're excited to be expanding our services across several states in the coming months.

Our vision is a humanistic mental health system, centered around people rather than pills.

About Outro’s approach

Over 50 million Americans are on an antidepressant. Now, the average duration of use is approaching more than five years, while FDA studies are only 6-8 weeks long.

Physiological dependence and withdrawal symptoms, which had been hidden from both doctors and patients, keep people trapped on the medication for life—often framed using the myth of a “chemical imbalance” or “low serotonin”.

Our mission is to provide people an evidence-based options for transitioning off their antidepressants and onto sustainable forms of mental wellness.
